BURCHARD

Sam and Ellen (Patterson) Cox, who settled in Pawnee County in the summer of 1879, initially got their mail at Tipps Branch. The town of Burchard was founded in August of 1881 by the Lincoln Town Site Company. By 1882, it was served by the Wymore branch of the Republican Railroad and had over 100 inhabitants, two general stores, two hardware stores, one drug store and one dry goods store.
